Summary of Job Function:

Relays incoming and outgoing calls, monitors operations of telephone and paging systems, and ensures that telephone equipment is in good, working order - reporting any problems. Monitors emergency alarms, communicates medical and other information to authorized recipients. Ability to operate the paging system, sound alarms, and announce medical codes / disasters / other emergencies in accordance with institutional policies. Works collaboratively on Performance Improvement initiatives to improve the Communications Department for the organization.

Job Qualifications:  

High school diploma required, post high school education preferred. Familiarity with switchboard communications and medical terminology, preferably in an acute care and / or ambulatory care environment. Prior switchboard experience and knowledge of Microsoft applications are a plus - ability to utilize a PC, a must.
